Hey there fellow bloggers! By now you have noticed that I have been MIA from this blog.

The Next Blog Post will Arrive in…
Hi there! December on this blog was quite active. You may have noticed that eight days into the New Year, I’ve only created two blog posts…including this post.
I had every intention of posting a new round of Spotlight Awards this past weekend. I started a blog post, just didn’t have the mental focus to finish it. The wonder of the holiday season has most definitely fizzled out, and I’m in a bit of a malaise when it comes to blogging.
For one thing, work has been quite hectic. On my off-time, I’ve been very busy doing productive stuff. I also feel a bit worn down as my allergies blew up last week.
I can’t say that my lack of blogging signals a disinterest in the act of blogging. I just don’t have the attention span to sit in from the computer for more than 10 minutes at a time when I’m not at work.
So what am I trying to communicate here? Well, for those of you who frequent the blog, please be patient with me as I try to keep the blog alive for the month of January. At the very least I have spam comment posts auto-scheduled for the next 3 Mondays. I should have a Spotlight post out within the next few days. I’m sure I’ll add a few more things here and there, but content on the blog will be light this month.
To those of you whose blogs I frequent, I apologize for not visiting as often as I had been. At some point I will come visit your blog again and leave some comments. We’ll have a nice brief chat about your blog.
In the meantime, I hope your 2013 is off to a fabulous start.

A 3 Star Blog
I recently received my 3rd 2012 Blog of the Year nod from My Cruise Stories. Realizing I have all of 2 days left to accept, I figured I better get going on passing out 5 more 2012 Blog of the Year awards.
Small Press Life is Freshly Pressed
Hello there! I have a short post today. Ever since Freshly Pressed was moved off of the main page and onto a tab that you can only view when logged in, I haven’t spent nearly as much time checking out Freshly Pressed blogs as a I used to. So it was a welcome surprise when I visited A Small Press Life yesterday and saw Maedez’s announcement that a recent post of hers was Freshly Pressed. Continue reading
A Gargoyle for your Blog
I recently received another blog award. This time, the recognition was bestowed upon me by Monica from Impressions of a Princess. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Monica’s blog, I would encourage you to do so. Continue reading
A December to Remember
Hi there. I wanted to take a moment and talk about my activity on this blog. You may have noticed that I’ve posted something new each day since December began (or not…we are only 5 days into the month). I will never commit to posting daily, but I thought I should take a moment and explain what I would like to accomplish on the blog this month. Continue reading
Blogging for Stars
December is quite a special month. It is a time for celebration and a time for reflection. It is the part of the year where we look at what we’ve accomplished and discuss what we’ll remember about the past 11+ months before the calendar turns over another year.
To commemorate the past year in blogging, The Thought Palette has created a Blog of the Year 2012 award. In the past two days, I’ve received this award from Supernova over at Digging History and Jamie from Grandmother Musings.
NFL Music Poll Results
Hello there NFL fans. At the beginning of preseason football, I posted a summary of NFL theme songs in CBS, Fox, NBC or the Mouse House: Who Has the Best NFL Theme Music? This article has continued to receive visitors each week as others search for information on NFL theme music. As the NFL regular season is currently in Week 11 of 17, this seemed like a good time to close down the poll and post the results. Continue reading
Mid-Week Break
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit some of the blogs I’ve spotlighted for November. As most of my posts this month will be more focused on photography, as well as another attempt at a Mad Libs post, I’d like to refer my readers to a humorous short story unfolding on the blog of a previous Spotlight winner – The Slowest of All Possible Elevators
or TSOAPE.
If you have a few moments this week, check out the Chain Letter of Doom story. Each post is very short, so you can read the story in a short amount of time. Start with Part Zero . Here is an excerpt:
“Rika knew her time was running out. The email had been unambiguous: forward this to 14 people by the 14th of this month to receive 14 free puddings. If you don’t, your dog will explode.
She loved her dog, Cookie, and would not take any chances with the letter’s warning, no matter how unbelievable, ’cause what if?
So she chose her 14 most trusted schoolmates and clicked the ‘forward’ button.”
Happy Halloween!
I am posting this late in the day, so for some of you it may already be November 1st. I haven’t had much time this week to write any substantial posts (thanks to a hectic work week), but I’ll have brand new Photo Friday posts in November and a new round of Spotlight Awards posted over the weekend.
I’m also participating in NaNoWrimo, so I may have a few posts related to my experiences with that endeavor. In addition, the Mad Libs experiment was pretty successful, so expect to see another one in November.
In the meantime, take care!

Weird WordPress Badges
I don’t even know where to begin with this. While checking the comments on my Mad Libs post from earlier in the week, I noticed WordPress was trying to alert me to the following milestone:

Congratulations on getting 1,337 total likes on NMNPHX.
HUH? Look again folks, I received a badge not for 1,000 likes, not even for 1,300 likes, but for 1,337 likes?! A few minutes later, I then received a notification to approve a pingback from my site to another blogger’s site. The only problem is, I had already approved this pingback in July.
Is WordPress acting up again? Back in June, I had several issues with WordPress deleting my posts, which I ranted about in Dear WordPress. Have you received WordPress badges for odd milestones?
Those Zany Blog Awards
With the October Spotlights handed out and the excitement of discovering some new blogs, it is now time for me to recognize awards that have been bestowed to me this month.
Before I dive into shameless self-promotion, let me just take a moment to highlight the October Spotlight winners one more time:
